I have known Carlos Merla for 20 years. In that time he has been a colleague, friend and neighbor. I first met him when he joined Microsoft in 1998 to work with me in building our Latin American organization. Working with him on this I soon appreciated his ability to work effectively across cultures and languages. Carlos is very effective at being able to understand a complex situation, and provides solutions that are clearly and effectively communicated. He has very strong analytical skills and is able to communicate plans and actions clearly and simply. Ten years ago we actually became neighbors in Grapevine. So, over the two decades I have know Carlos I have seen him to be devoted to family, a close friend and a skilled colleague. I have also seen his love for Grapevine, and his commitment to helping grow and develop the local community though his work in the Chamber of Commerce and his support of local businesses.
I have worked with Carlos Merla for the pass 5 years and he is a tremendous Thought Leader. He is a positive energy professional with HIGH integrity. This man does what he says he is going to do, this speaks highly to who he is as a person. His skills and character are both well suited to provide Grapevine with an awesome leader. He can be trusted to do what is in the best for the city not self-serving decisions and this is a rare quality today
When I met Carlos I was impressed by his dedication to maintaining the good things in Grapevine, his honesty and his ability to listen. He has managed large groups of employees, been involved with multi million dollar budgets and wants the best for the city. He is a long time resident, and has been very active with the Chamber of Commerce. I think Carlos will be a great addition to the City Council.

I have know Carlos now for several years. We have served on committees together for the Grapevine Chamber as well as going through the Chamber leadership program. Carlos has always displayed qualities' of being well organized, compassionate , and diplomatic. Carlos spent several successful years in the corporate world with Microsoft and is now a small business owner himself. He understands the needs and concerns of the small business owner as well as what's needed in the corporate world.
I have known Carlos for 5 years, first meeting as Ambassadors of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. From the first moment I met him, I saw a man that was focused, professional, well versed, and very business savvy. Over time we became good friends and met each other's families. We have collaborated on different business ideas and have sought advice as needed. Carlos loves Grapevine, TX and will do anything within his power to preserve and grow the community. His organization skills are well suited to help with fundraising events, community activities, and to help represent the people in Grapevine through the City Council. I believe that Carlos brings a dimension to the City Council to make it even greater and well positioned for what lies ahead as we approach the 3rd decade of the 21st century.
